Playing the Waiting Game

Comments

I just threatened the earlier bedtime on the older one. "oh, you can't be in bed by eight? Well we will try 7:30 for the next week." The younger follows the older everywhere she goes. The older is now at the point that I mention reading a story and she shoots upstairs immediatly and I have to call her back down to clean up.

lovely picture of Violet. at first I thought it was soap/bubbles on her face.

congrats on having found a good bedtime method that V. is engaged with. and whatever punishment you ever have to mete out, don't let it be books/reading time.

I laughed at the reference desk picturing her dancing around or singing while watching the clock. What a cutie!

Great story -- and creative solution to your problem. I, too, would hate to use the fear of not-getting-to-read in bed as a threat. It's still the way I like to cap my day.

I'll have to try the waiting game. I myself many a time have used the "no book" before bed as a carrot and a few times ET (4 1/2 years old) has gone to bed sans book.

Very nice! You should be a teacher, because that was really clever, teaching her to understand time as well as introducing her to basic math!

since the clock wont work for my kids now .....there all grown up and harder now as adults then kids errrrrrrr
